Hreflang Manager changelog
What changed, release by release. Newest first.
November 2026: audit fixes
- Script codes accepted: codes with an ISO 15924 script, such as
zh-Hantorzh-Hans-HK, are valid under Google's guidelines and are no longer reported as invalid codes. - Busy storefronts: when a store asks the audit to slow down, the audit waits and tries the page again, and no longer reports a slowed-down page as broken.
1.0, October 2026: first release
Submitted to the Shopify App Store on October 11, 2026.
- Hreflang tags for each market and language, added to every storefront page by a theme app embed (Pro). Built from your markets, their domains or subfolders, and their published languages, with an x-default from your primary market.
- Translated handles: alternates use each language's translated URL, so they don't point at redirects.
- Market availability: products that aren't sold in a market are left out of its alternates.
- No tags on pages that shouldn't be in search: 404, search, cart, password, gift card and account pages.
- Audit of a sample of your live pages against Google's hreflang guidelines: return links, self-references, full URLs, codes, x-default, canonicals, and alternates that redirect, fail or are noindex. Each problem is listed once with the pages it affects, the fix and its basis. On demand, and weekly on Pro.
- Setup checklist that reads your storefront to confirm the app embed is on and Shopify's automatic tags are off, with links straight to the theme editor and to Preferences.
- Storefront password: save it in the app (stored encrypted) so the setup check and the audit can read a password-protected storefront.
- Plans: Free (market map, checklist, audit on demand) and Pro (tags and weekly audits) with a 14-day free trial. Development stores get Pro at no charge.
